Love the splotches, too- This is how Andy Warhol wished he drew when he had tied one on... Really fresh design- would be perfect for a noise/improv jazz poster too
Hey all,
This was a poster from a gig in 1998, and yep, I agree it looks a lot like McGee's Kurtzmann-esque work. I ran into his work ( Im in Chicago) after this poster was printed and was happy we only made 80 of them-McGee is a deservedly successful artist and the resemblance of these lugs to his stumblebums is spooky, I think. I debated whether or not to post this, and thought I would in the interest of not editing any of my work.
The interesting thing is this need for the country to be at war with an "enemy". The similarities to Orwell's 1984 are pretty amusing. John Ashcroft could do a nice job in a remake movie.
I think the success of large corporations and the political system lies in the ability to marginalize thoughts and arguments about issues into very, very simple "us vs. them " bullshit.
W's party is as far from Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt's as Clinton's was from FDR's.
If we are going to "take out" Saddam, what about Syria, Libya, Sudan etc- this is, as usual, a huge distraction from domestic shit.
On a side note, I think a Pancho Villa 'stache would also be very nice.
