  the heaviest metal = osmium

even heavier than lead.

thus, Osmium (or Ozmium) would make a great name for a heavy band.

BUT putting bunny rabbits on a Cannibal Corpse poster probably isn't going to fit the band in many fans eyes. maybe one or two, but shouldn't you be designing for the MAJORITY of the fan base? Shouldn't you be making something the band would POSSIBLY aprove of?

Or are you some ego driven prick that needs to tell the band and kids what they should like and what will work?

How people can argue this makes no sense to me. Simply no sense at all.

Look, if you want to do your own thing without regard for the band... then make fucking art prints. Take the band's name off.

Jeeezus CHRIST on stick!"

nah, I still think you're way off-base. no one ever said no regard for the band was the goal. WTF? you must have previous arguments w/ others from these boards circling in your head.

it's got to fit the band... but not in any particular way.

hard to explain.

that's right. all the great artists rise way above the technician level, and that's way they're hired. people WANT them to give it the kozik treatment or the beardsley treatment or the warhol treatment. otherwise, why hire them?

in the case of gigposters, posters are designed more to advertise a show and entice people to go to it, more than to only reinforce the band's imagery or the designer's notion of the band's imagery.

whatever works in doing that is fair game.
