Advide needed

Hi All,
I've been tasked with creating a battle of the bands poster aimed at getting bands to participate (rather than getting an audiance). The job spec was blue, brown and yellow/gold. The battle will be held at a rugby club and these are their colours. They are happy with the poster but as i dont usualy do anything with this amount of writting on i just feel that text clutters the whole image. Any advice on using text in poster compositions is greatly appreciated

try putting [img] brackets around your image


i might try a different body font than the one you have, for readability. when i've done flyers in the past, it was kinda 'info first, design second' in terms of what you wanted to get across.

for layouts, you could look at things like older black and white flyers

you don't have to go with the DIY aesthetic of those, but you can see how things kinda have a hierarchy. if all your type is the same size, its all given the same importance, which doesn't let the viewer know where to start.

so if you had a headline like you do, subheading, image, then bottom type, then small detail type under that - that seems to be a layout that works well. or used to, who knows these days.

thanks for the reply and those examples certainly give me something to think about. Maybe its my works firewall blocking Flickr as you post also shows a broken image link

I wouldn't be worried about the text cluttering the image as its pretty... uh, not good.
