Default Illustrator Swatch question

I've got a document with a 2-color design. In my swatch panel, I apparently clicked the wrong thing once, because I have the pantone coated and uncoated versions of the same Pantone # (I should only have 2 colors, both uncoated) in there.

So how do I find where that color is hiding in my document?

My normally successful method is to draw a box using the unwanted color, then select>same>fill color, then change 'em all to the desired color and delete the box.

But for some reason this is not working on this document. There are no locked items or locked layers, but when I use the swatch fly-out menu option "select all unused", it insists the coated swatch is still lurking somewhere in there.

Any thoughts?

Copy and paste into a new document and see what happens.

Could it be that it's stroked and not filled try a generic 1pt stroke and do same>stroke color. I really hate having to find shit like that.

draw a box on the side of the document and make it the color you want to find. then select it and then select "same fill color"

if it is just a two colour doc... and what you tried doesn't work try clicking on an object with one of the colours then select all (same colour) then lock those... then select the other colour, select all (same colour) and lock those down... now select all... anything that gets selected is not locked down, therefore not one of those two colours...

if you copy and paste the graphic into a new document it should import the swatches into the new document. if your third, unwanted swatch shows up, you have a hiding object somewhere within the graphic. if only the two swatches you want show up, there is some sort of glitch in the first document. i've had that happen before and pasting to a new document always fixes it up.
