Default does anyone tranquilize there dog on 4th of july?

My dog gets scared from the fireworks, He shakes and pants a lot. Ive only had him a year and last year i was with him on the 4th but this year i want to go out.

I have leftover tranqs I got when I drove across country with him and am thinking of giving him one to relax him then leaving. yay or nay?

Go for it. Had to give my old dog tranquilizers for thunderstorms and fireworks. She would get nutso destructive... to the point she wore down/broke all her teeth from chewing on her cage and other things. The pills completely knocked her out.

from what I know of dog owners, it seems to be fairly common practice.

We just slip our dogs half a Benadryl each. Takes the edge right off.

my old dog used to shake non-stop and throw up when fireworks went off. which was pretty rough when i lived in a vietnamese neighborhood in south philly, tet fireworks being a 3-4 day long affair all morning-noon-and-night.

benedryl helped, but she was still really scared and barfed. poor things.
