SubGeniusSend SubGenius a message :   Sadly, Jimy Rogers, who this was for, passed away in December. In his mind -- and to many others -- he was a living icon of the 60s rock scene, and he was thrilled by this poster.   2011-07-25 13:44:41

SubGeniusSend SubGenius a message :   I can't tell you how much I LOVE every comment... snarky or not. This was indeed, admittedly, an intentional knockoff of the Neil Young poster. I'm only sorry if I didn't do it justice as I was working from memory. The musical artist, Jimy Rogers was a living and seemingly ageless tribute to the 60s scene, when he himself was a minor rockstar, and this celebration of his comeback deserved an homage like this. I never realized until now that there was any discussion of this poster, I'm just sorry I didn't catch it sooner. Feel free to bust me for my other attempts to counterfeit great work, which I truly love to do.   2011-04-26 14:35:20

RADARSend RADAR a message :   i hope its screenprinted, i need one of these   2008-01-28 17:27:56
perkinsSend perkins a message :   Maybe that's the difference then, Dave- with Jermaine's the thought was obvious. Kind of an important characteristic if it's gonna be a parody and not a rip.   2008-01-28 13:07:30
DWITTSend DWITT a message :   what if this band covers Neil Young songs, or perhaps just really likes Neil Young. We don't know the thought behind it.   2008-01-28 13:02:36
perkinsSend perkins a message :   There's a shitload of thought behind the concept of that Darkness poster. It has everything to do with representing that particular band and its music in the most appropriate manner. That image is purposely exaggerated to accent the joke...not just stolen.   2008-01-28 12:57:54
MaximumFluorideSend MaximumFluoride a message :   I'm with Dwitt. The only difference is that Jermaine is "jermaine"   2008-01-28 12:43:14
philaarts.comSend philaarts.com a message :   reo speedwagon has some cool tunez.   2008-01-28 11:50:55
VonDadaSend VonDada a message :   When this was first posted I was gonna say something about it being like Jermaine's stuff (color combo, lettering) but I figured "Why Bother?" It's a poorly done rip. The only thing missing is "Meridian" under the word "Blue."   2008-01-28 11:50:00
DWITTSend DWITT a message :   "This one is just ripping someone else's art and adapting it to their own purpose" isn't that what jermaine does all the time? His raiders of the lost ark/Ween poster is ripping Spielbergs art. Right?
Fair game, I say. Now, the quality of the execution is another argument.

philaarts.comSend philaarts.com a message :   oh shut up billy.. it wasnt that great.   2008-01-28 10:13:05
perkinsSend perkins a message :   Jermaine's poster was brilliant in concept and PERFECT for a band that is itself a parody. it was also an obvious joke from one big name in poster design to another. This one is just ripping someone else's art and adapting it to their own purpose...and a shitty job of it at that. Not funny, just a rip.   2008-01-28 10:10:23
