"Being an Irish American, though, the first thing i thought was that a protestant guy was making out with a Catholic girl. It's a very cool piece despite my retardation"
I hope to Goodtimes you are joking... :o
wow, that's really wierd.. I just printed a poster for these guys show in tennessee and I ended up coosing the exact same two colors... wierd... maybe I saw this before and it didn't register and I unconciously bit your style... er.. sorry about that. Luckily I screwed up mixing the ink so it came out a little bit different. hehe.
thanks for all the nice comments on this one. I know this is a lot diff from a big bulk of my work, but lately I've just been given more to experimenting. The type solution on this is definitely a stretch for me.
It's funny rockologist says this has warmth to it coz the feeling I was trying to convey was something sorta cold, and pairing the figures against each other, like where the colors touch it's that whole "vibrating color" color theaory cleashing stuff.
Also, as dusty knows, this will have a little line of text (18 point) above their heads printed in white glow in the dark ink on the white paper. It's the line from the milemarker song "Love+Murder" that inspired this...the quote is "Reveal the inneccessity of me. I could be anyone." Most of my favorite of their songs are the ones dealign with the politics of sex, and this
song in particular kinda attacks the way most people treat sex, as just soem meaningless thing that people just do with whoever. The song is also keyboard driven, so it has a coldness to it from that as well.
so yeah... when the lights go out the truth is revealed.
there I go being an art school dork again. with my high fallutin "concepts".
Nolen, nice work and I love the fact you used a pixel font...being the web design geek I am, Is it Mini or one of the fourm agency fonts? just curious...by the way they are a really great group of guys in Minneapolis doing sweel web work and making bad ass pixel fonts at fourm.com
to qoute el-p from company flow-'even when i say nothing, it's a beautiful use of negative space". what i think is so great about this is what it doesn't show. i'm not bored by it, because my little imagination can run wild with placing different faces in the space-different looks, different expressions, different people...y'know, maybe they're both guys. i could go on for a while.
