I'm mixing it up, at the mo in the UK the poster comes secondary to the promotion -its more merch, I hope that'll be addressed in time - but for now, the sensibility of the music is the taproot of my design, one can go pretty wild... but I'll keep your words in mind as a touchstone for the future...

i make stuff that promotes a show, to me if people can't read them or they are hard to see in dark places (like a bar) then the poster is not doing its job. I don't try and reinvent the wheel I just do what I do and I'm happy with that

John, your poster's aren't avant garde, they're not (at a glance) concept driven...
but it seems that with a pretty high consistency you make good ole' smokey bar-room stuff and I like that! ...so do most other people in the bar I'm certain.
