cody* very cool. this was, outside of 'the birth of frank', my most popular poster at flatstock. i dug how all the women came up and commented on 'the expression','it's seductive yet powerful', 'she's in control of her sexuality'.....and the guys came up with 'great tits!!'
...gotta love it.
so...uncle charlie wants to fuck me.....don't impress yourself chuck. it wasn't that good the last time.
again* thanks to all for the 'nicety-nice' ( altho if kong is wrong does that mean the type is good and the illustration sucks?).
Just noticed that the Venue says Belly Up, Solana Beach FL!!!
Give San Diego it's props, yo! Clay, can this be fixed?
It's so cool when your favorite poster from such a talented and cool guy gets some recognition. I love this piece...
Congrats Allmighty Scrojo! Well deserved POW. This image is still my favorite of the many excellent works. In person and up close you can really get a feel for Scrojos incredible use of line and weight... it's almost like the lines themselves have depth... hard to describe...
BOW BEFORE THE GREAT SCROJO!
(*ps: Scrojo is talented and cool)
big al* and i'm stoked to be watching the 'meteoric rise of big al-superstar'. it's gonna happen, we just need to work on your type.
i forgot about 'stinky jody'. it would actually be cool to reserect her and use her for a tour series. good idea man, thanks.
Hey Scroj! I was looking at some of the first things I clipped from the DB.
July 30, 2001 my first major Scrojo sighting . . . er clipping.
You got any posters with "Stinky Jody"?
When I first saw your mermaids and rollergirl I was thinking damn, this guy draws like coop, but right away it was evident that you had you're own style.
I'm glad to have witnessed the phenomenon that is SCROJO!!!!
thanks guys*... my wife asks that you quit feeding my ego tho. she's getting a little sick of me running around the apartment in my under-oos screaming 'i am invinceable'.
ok, in all seriousness, thank you all. it really means alot to get these kinds of compliments from people i deeply admire.
*the scrojo-coop thing*
i kno that there are definetely mixed feelings about coop here but, for the record, i am a huge fan and admirer of his. i have no idea what the man is like personally but his art has had a huge influence on me. his understanding of anatomy and weight distribution ( no pun) are things i still aspire to. i also admire the fact that he went forward and did the 'biggie' girls that he wanted when there had to be commercial pressure to keep pumping out the 'ideal devil-girls'. not exactly my taste but i know he's made el negro fantastico very happy.
*the book of scrojo*
damn.....obviously i'd be beyond stoked to have a book. i do have '85' pieces but i think i'd want to wait a few months and try and knock out some really top-notch posters. even tho i've been doing flyers since '86 i think it's only been since january that i hit my stride. plus i'd like to try and get some cd covers under my belt as well. *frank* if you have any connection i'd be really greatful ( not suck hairy-butt greatful but pretty damn close) if you could pass on my email and a good word.
thanks to all again.
agreed. up until knoe, Coop was considered 'the best' line illustrator.
Scrojo done kicked his ass stylistically, thematically and lay-out wise. Scrojo's over-all posters are rock solid.
I am fucking stoked for him.
plus..Coop ripped his stylee and ZScrojo got his own 'moderne' thing going on.
