the kaleidoscope was a really cool venue. i read that it was an old dance hall/nightclub from the 20's or 30's that was built in a circle. the stage was the center with a dance floor around it and elevated area for tables and seating beyond that. the "hallway" was outside of that. and here's the cool part - they all rotated in opposite directions from each level. so the whole thing slowly around in a confusing fashion and added to the delerium of the drugs. to top it all off, there was also a spinning circle or two of natural gas flame jets that also spun counter to the rest. when it was all on i guess it was truly amazing. then add the early airplane and the early dead and a few thousand grams of owelsly acid and, well.... you get the picture.
