HamptonSend Hampton a message :   Art, I did actually get really good exposure and got my name out there. Frank hooked me up with his lawyer that won in court against Artrock to do my contract with them. When I sent them a fair contract, they ran for the shadows hissing like it was a garlic covered cross and that was the end of my stint Artrock. Their contract was ridiculous, laughable.   2002-06-18 10:35:35
HamptonSend Hampton a message :   Frank, there needs to be a big party thrown when they actually do go out of business to celebrate their demise.   2002-06-18 10:33:44
art chantrySend art chantry a message :   justin - so you got burned, huh? i remember you asking me what i thought and i warned about what i heard, but you decided to risk it anyway. sorry it went bad.
at least you got that initial exposure you needed. it's not much, but it's something.

kozikSend kozik a message :   I got Artrock stories that'll singe your butt hairs.
He's slowly going out of business, tho...all's well that ends well.
He tried to sue me once. He lost.

HamptonSend Hampton a message :   Kozik's not the only one with a story of parting on bad terms with Artrock. They left a wake of pissed off artists including myself, Forbes, Sutton, Coop and droves of others. Can you imagine the poster empire they could have had if they had just treated their artists right? It's insane. They're insane. Life goes on, thank god for independence.   2002-06-18 09:40:11
kozikSend kozik a message :   Artrock is bad.   2002-06-18 09:28:10
piemelSend piemel a message :   Cardoso, there is a poster from around 1995 with the same image for Tilt in SF which sold Kozik posters at the time. This was after Frank left Art Rock very early 1995. This is the reason why the first 10-12 posters from 95 are more difficult to find then the later ones in 1995. Art Rock has been good at keeping Kozik posters away to (I think) raise prices. I am not sure what the current deal is with Kozik/ArtRock but I have this feeling that ArtRock is not allowed to sell any of the Kozik posters? Seems that Kozik and ArtRock had a blowout and parted their ways in not so nice terms.   2002-06-18 00:56:19
peter cardosoSend peter cardoso a message :   This was always a favorite of mine,it hangs in my studio right above my head as I type this. Took years for me to get my hands on one but worth the wait. Was there a variation to this Frank? I thought I saw this as an advetisment forh maybe gearhead or something? Wit slightly diffrent color variations.   2002-06-17 21:23:07
stinkbaitSend stinkbait a message :   This is beautiful. Didn't know ya had it in ya. The red reflection from the fire is perfect. Really sweet.   2002-06-17 11:22:29
kozikSend kozik a message :   yep..it's a swipe, but I redrew the whole damn thing so it would work as a silkscreen.   2002-06-17 10:31:50
HankTrotterSend HankTrotter a message :   Aww, I see this one every time I go make noise with Gas Huffer's drummer and The Stranger art director, Joe Newton. Very appropriate image for this band. They are definitely the hard-working proles of garage rock. This looks like you actually drawed it up all special like what with the rapidograph crosshatching.   2002-06-17 08:44:02
John ASend John A a message :   Always loved this one. The only way a worker can get any color in his life is through his work.
sigh
