Revolution in their mind, the children start to march
Against the world in which they have to live
And all the hate that's in their hearts
They're tired of being pushed around and told just what to do
They'll fight the world until they've won
and love comes flowing through. Yeah!
God I love that song.
Great poster.
"Rocket engine burning fuel so fast.." God, I love that song and that album. Definitely my favorite Sabb song. And probably my favorite album by them. Easily their most underrated. Very cool poster too.
darren - about ten years ago some guys got into 'flocked' posters in seattle. my favorite was a skateboard-deck-shaped poster where the black 'gripping' material (ya know, that non-skid stuff) was all flocking. it looked absolutely perfect and was a very popular joke...
yeah when I 'figured this out' I was like
'DOH" (forehead slap) and sliced it out of rubylith in 2 minutes.
That dumb 'model' one it replaced took a whole day.
swiping rules.
Frank, this just slapped me. Dig the Sabbath thing. Super cool! I dig the contrast between Sonic Youth and Black Sabbath as bands. Great idea. Hey, Drowning Creek Studios are going to do the velvet flocking on some of my upcoming posters. They got the rights and researched it. Black light with flocking will rule! Have a bitchin summer.
D :-D
Hey Frank,
I printed a El Vez poster for Art the was on velvet or velveteen(I guess that's fake velvet or something?) Maybe he knows where to get it. I think he said they were about $1 a sheet but you could probably get two out of'em.
Got the file but it's just pictures of cub scouts playing with their peters. You send the right one? No mater I'll get these when I do the High On Fire sps. Off to a big rock show with Pedni's band Okkervil River and my friends Moonlight Towers and Li'l Cap'n Travis. Poster #6923 for you frequent flyers...
thurston moore was acctually quoted saying something about how sy were 1/2 black sabath and half greatfull dead. or something like that.
i have tons of black fake leather paper.
Sounds cool. The sheets I gots are 20 x 26 and you loose an inch with the tabs. I gots a fast hook up so you can just send full size illus. files as seps to my factor27 addy and I can output to film.
I looked into a long time ago and it was kinda spensive...maybe drowning Jeff has a lead, if not I think a nice black paper will work just find. You print em, I'll sign em and we can split the run or whatever you want.
special edition. it's a 1 to 2 ratio design, it's illustartor so it can be bigger or smaller or whatever.
I'll sign em in silver ink, it'll be ginchy.
Well it's black regular but what say we look into runing down some velvet? You know how we like to print on all kinds cap and that's on the list. You know any good sources? I'd love to experiment and it'd be an honor.
It would be most fucking excellent to screen some. Tell me what size you want the films..or I can send you the illustrator file. is the paper black *velvet* or black regular?
frank, someone had to do this sooner or later, ah a ah ah ah ah a ah a ah ah den den den dendenden den den, and yea,the pope on the end of a rope would be great! hey,we beat the argies! i'm not drunk :-p
Pretty genius Frank. The bands will have to like it. This record should be one of the reason they decided to form a band. I'll be needing one of these. I've got some left over black paper you want to screen a handfull?
you should be able to get an unsigned one from Philaarts-I will have signed ones for sale direct later in the summer when I get my stash for whatever price Philaarts sets. They are not silkscreens tho...merely offset 12" x 24". My DREAM would be for these to be on black velvet...hint hint DAVE.
hey Frank, are these available? a good friend of mine is a huge sonic youth fan and I turned him on to erase errata, we're going to this show in DC I think...and he'd shit his pants over this...
erase errata are one of the best live bands I've seen in a while... indie/punk rock girls with something to say and weird music to back it up dressed in day glo clothes in a room with no lights except the black lights making them glow in the dark, dancing to french pop between their own songs playig to like 12 people in a rug store. That's what makes punk rock so great.
I cant' believe it took people so long to catch the reference here! As soon as I saw it I was jealous of whoever had made it... nice job Frank.
