thanks for reminding me. when yer old like me, you tend forget the details, ya know?
actually, richie's joke reminded me that this is actually the fourth poster i ever owned. the first was actually an old psych poster i found still hanging in a local hardware store window. it had been there for years and i finally worked up the nerve to ask for it.
it was a crude one-color silkscreen job (dayglo green), a rip-off design of a famous fillmore poster probably done by some high school art student. it said (in almost illegible psychedelic type) "the byrds and merrilee rush & the turnabouts at wilson high school." i did a date thing on it (on of those universal calendar things from the yellow pages) and was able to date it as 1966. it was actually way cool. it's what got me hooked on posters.
i forgot all about that poster. i sold it to the emp a decades back. wish i hadn't. needed the money.
this was the third rock poster i ever owned (the first was mouse/kelly "demonlover' and the second was "skull & roses"). i still have it. it's one of those objects i'll probably keep the rest of my life.
i think i was about 16 when i found it hanging in a head shop in tacoma. i paid like $20 for it (which was a fortune back then). 1969 or 70.
dang, it's a great poster. turned me onto griffin in a big way - this is sort of a smorgasboard of all things griffin past and future. it even has murph the surf on it!
