AAAAYYY! That's really funny, I never thought of that. I just thought it'd be funny to have Frankie showing excitement by giving a thumbs up with the contrast of his dead, expressionless face.
doesn't sound like backdraft is implying ef are a small time band more that y'all are know more for cool posters than music.
i kinda gotta agree. everytime i hear the name ef pop up in conversation someone says "oh that band with all the frankenstien posters? those are cool. what do they sound like anyway?'
then again what do i know?
ohh wee i've been up drawing all night. time for this whore to hit the sack.
It certainly is NOT true that EF is a small time band, we've sold over 150,000 records, are one of the top 5 most writen about bands in the world, have done sold out shows in big places (1,500 + capacity), have toured the world many times, have records in almost every record store in almost every country (even in Asia), headlined many festivals to many thousands of people, have fans from over 20 countres, our website is one of the most traveled music related sites on the internet, our songs are on many film soundtracks, have turned DOWN many major label offers to stay indie (we make much more money as an indie band $ per record), sell tons of merch at our shows, and live very well off the band. So I don't see how we are small time. We've been around 10 years and Coop, Kozik, Hess, Forbes, Arminski, and many others have been fans of the band since the beginning and have done lots of art for us. It was Kozik's idea to even do the book. Plus, why would a publisher even want to do an EF book if no one heard of us.
Sorry Backdraft but you just show your own ingnorance.
October the advance copies will be out of the book and we will be doing gallery showings of much of the art from our record covers, etc (with artist permission), and book tours, and live shows to promote the boook. In january it will be available gor general purchase anywhere that carries such books.

Thanks Scrojo. I like your idea, but my posters are always pretty illustration heavy. I wanted to do something different on this one and do something more typography intensive and mix it up a bit, y'know?
way to go hampton* i really dig the illustration but i think the layout kinda overpowers it. it might have been fun to have the ill. full size and to slip a simplistic (and green) western landscape in the background to play off 'the cactus club'. 'the ghoul goes west' so to speak. still, it's a great and original take on 'frank'. good work mate.
....see you on the book signing tour.
-scrojo.
Makes me think of a Charles Burns/ Daniel Clowes merger of styles. The poster art for this band is amazing which any band would have a tall order to live up to in their music. I'm just glad they were around to give different artists a similar theme to work with. When is the book coming out?
i love these posters. its just a shame. its kinda like, the band is really nothing. and everyone does posters. sorry to be negative.
the book of ef posters will sell more than the albums they make. hope the same isnt for the fakes.
I got one going in that book also. I still havn't seen the final image. Jeff Wood did the layout for mine. Lots of good people going in that book.
Great poster Justin. Do you hand draw your stuff or is it done in illustrator? your lines are so damn clean.
