I used to have a SCG videotape of various live footage. In one segment they're doing one of their absurdist theater things, backed by a choir of 30 standing up on stepped risers. In the middle of the performance the whole platform collapses, choir and all. funny. Actually I think about an hour of that video was the Sun City Girls running around on acid with a camcorder. unwatchable, which was probably the point.

This was about 50/50 fuck you/ epically brilliant.. but I love the "fuck you" part as well, otherwise they wouldn't be the Sun City Girls.

Sun City Girls shows are kind of like Sun City Girls albums- one in four is transcendently, epically brilliant, and the other three are "fuck you" shows. Which was this?

Abram- You nailed it! I've had the record for years and not only is it one of my favorite covers, but I always thought it would be great to use for Sun City Girls.. Seeing as how appropriation is a large part of what they do I decided to just use the cover, changing all the type (using the original typeface Aladdin) to fit the show and translate it to 3 colors instead of the original 4. The band loved it and recognized it immediately.

it's the cover of an old gamelan record- i wish i still had it- very cool design in the first place- the style does definitely fit the ssg-
