After a long and hard fought battle I'm proud to announce that I now own one of these and all the accolades below are well deserved, it needs to be seen in person to be appreciated, killer Frank, just killer. :D
Here's an idea for your next gallery show. Get a change machine, paint it black, and rig it to accept money, but instead of giving change it flashes "Thank You"
I guarentee gullible patrons will become foxes without tails and encourage their friends to put money into the mystery box.
awesome..what i do is make computer collages and print them on to aetate and project them. I just started doing this and the paintings are coming out real cool. when they are done I will blow y'all away.
Talking about drawing from photo collages, I have a friend that does some amazing paintings that way. His painting room has the walls covered in pictures cut from magazines (mostly old Good Housekeeping and Women's Day) and he cobbles together some wierd shit then paints it exactly like the collage. One is is this wierd face that has the eyes and nose of Nixon drinking coffee with a Ventriloquist dummy.
dude i have sketchbooks full of cartoon drawings like Spumco style and Presten Blaire and stuff. I should drag that shit out and use it. In the mid 90's I was determined to be Frank Kozik. heh! Ewings the only one who has seen most of that stuff.
I'd like to get toys made of some of these guys.
Heh, this is probably the only place you have or will ever see me drawing a girl. I never do it. I suck at drawing women.
I'm guessing the Smorkin' is one of your toons? If so, then yeah, I can see that. I used to be a hardcore cartoon illustrator. Studying animation will kind of force you to be. I may try and do some more cartoon style posters. Like with my robot and some other characters i have. I need to brush up on it though. It's pretty rusty.
hey man Im not an artist. I mean..I can 'really draw and paint' but it's a pain in the ass. When they make the machine you can just plug into your head and then the robot draws what you think of I'll be the first to use it.
What I can do really really well is 'cartoon'..but I NEVER do it.
maybe I should.
I have some friends who build scenes in 3D packages and render that out and draw on top. Thats like WAY to much work for me. Again it yeilds damn good results. You can really tweek the layout because you have full control over ech piece of the scene.
I have always fet that that was kind of cheating, but I'm getting over that. These days I'm more interested in the final piece looking good than how I arrived at it.
OK Since Frank threw this in my face I must comment on it. Without trying to kiss the man's
ass too much. The fact that I love this band makes this poster even more kick-ass. But I'm blown away by the jpeg of this poster and can only imagine what it looks like in person.
