Saves The Day is one of my favorite bands, and Hokusai's print is one of the reasons I got into graphic design. I thought it would approriate to combine two of my loves. When meeting with the band they loved it and that is more than I could ask for.
No I am not from House Ind...
Hahaha, awesome. Well, all I know is this prfoject was tons of fun. First run where I had full control of design and production. Ran all the prints myself, so rfegardless I am exceptionally happy with the end product
I designed it. I am Alex Cruz.
Yes it is a famous wood block print as noted by Dusty...
I drew inspiration from, not much is changed from the print, I made image adjustments, but I wanted to stay true to the original, my small adjustment was putting the radio tower in sounding an alarm. Saves The Day's new cd is titled Sound The Alarm so I thought this was an interesting spin on the title...
It probably one of the most famous image out of japanese classic japanese woodcuts, "In The Hollow of a Wave off the Coast at Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai.
he just put a radio tower in. Lame.
