Thats what I think everytime I see this. It totally reminds me of the middle of nowhere taverns I would go to with my grandparents where some barfly would do caricatures of the other locals and hang them on the wall. Sort of a drinking wall of fame!
this poster is awesome. strange family-photo reference material emerging from a nebulous aura...
that dude near the back with the hat and the beard will kick your ass if you make any "Uncle Jesse" jokes.
I like the way the artist spent so much energy drawing the faces and so little time on the text. Even the balloon is f-ed up.
This has to be the real thing.I love it. The quadruple chins on mullet man make me cry. On april 20th I'll start partying around 2:00pm.
the funny part is, i've BEEN to things like this, an hour north of here in a town called Barrie, at this old rocker guy's place out in the country (he calls himself the Captain, always wears a captain's hat), he lives in a giant geodesic dome, and has a shitkickin music festival called Domestock. must be seen to be believed. i'm positive i've seen all of the people in this poster at domestock...
honest is a good description-ths is beautiful. no bullshit pretenses, no 'cool' popculture teferences, no highbrow art gimmicks...i'd go have some seafood and a lone star with them. i mean, the guitarist in the background's rockin', i bet i'd have a blast.
oh and by the way this is one of my favorite posters/flyers I've ever seen on here...it's just so... it just feels so honest...or something. reminds me of people I grew up around in Georgia. These people are Skynnrd fans.
It looks like some good ol boys trying to gather up the kinfolk for a family reunion, but the family here being those who like to rock with The Tone Blasters.
Maybe by sleepovers the dude means, "hey baby, wanna wrestle?"
i'm curious of the artists motives, or what her thoughts are on this. was it done seriously, or with humorous intentions? i see quite a bit of hand drawn sketches in magazines today, kinda the "drawing on peachies during class" stuff. but i dont know if this is part of that movement or just an honest poster, which i respect. am i making any sense?
