at last!! i used to have a copy of
this beautiful poster, signed by
kozik,which i bought in sydney
many years ago. i stuck it to a
speaker cabinet at work...i quit
the job and forgot the poster....
i love it....thankyou.
I Gave Each member of The band one of These Posters The day of The Show, When They came Into my Record store, That I had Bought from KOZIK, just a couple days before...some where i have a few the band signed but i haven't been able to find them...so far..
This is one of those posters that they where talking about in that thread where after I finished it I propped it up in a chair in my bedroom and kept getting up to look at it all night and freaking out coz I really feltlike i had nailed it.
Nope for me it was because it was being ruined. If Lovejoy's had been the venue and it had been 15 years ago then it would have been doing it's job. Lovejoy's wasn't even opened when this was printed. It could have been displayed without stapling it to a leaky ceiling. I'm all for the poster getting posted and doing the job when the show is happening but fifteen years after the fact have some respect for the art. This is a classic piece and prolly very few in circulation. Bonehead move if you ask me.
yea, this poster is great, very simple but the orange and black & white keeps this one interesting and groovy 8) to top it off its for a cool band; i'd love one of these but i'd probably need a mortgage to afford one right? ;-)
See rockologist you have seen the work around town then. What was Studio 709 transformed into Factor27...we do regret we couldn't work something out with Jason Austin, but we had to move on. The new Spiritualized should be out around town in a day or so. Being an Austin native Nels, Kozik, Jason Austin have all been inspirational. We attempt to keep towing the line.
THIS is what Kozik is about to me. Not the day glo and cartoons. This era was what was important. Melding Victor Moscoco and Stanley Mouse with his twisted acid interpretations. Awesome.
I had this along with other Koziks from this era as wallpaper and I did get in trouble. not for this one but for the butthole surfers/flaming lips one I had right in the center. Now I'm the boss and have Butthole Shurfers and Flaminglips poster hanging in my office. Now it's "art" since I'm not a punk temp. I worked with Jason for about a year we have three or four posted under Studio 709 on this site. He has some amazing posters we just couldn't work the studio stuff out.
yeah, his stuff always affected me more than kozik's. my roommate had one on a wall in our living rooom, and it gave me the willies, much creepier than kozik's work. jason austin has always been a fave.
this is the kind of stuff that got me into poster art, this and an old jason austin/butthole surfers poster from the late 80s-early 90s. before then, it was all just hippie dribble to my little punk rawk eyes...
yeah this was one of the ones in Frank's first book that I got as a pre-balding youth and thought "man, I wish he'd do more f-edup stuff like this". If it wouldnt' get me in trouble with the heads, I'd put this as the wallpaper on my computer at work
