kozikSend kozik a message :   This is one of those posters that they where talking about in that thread where after I finished it I propped it up in a chair in my bedroom and kept getting up to look at it all night and freaking out coz I really feltlike i had nailed it.   2002-06-11 17:17:13
stinkbaitSend stinkbait a message :   Nope for me it was because it was being ruined. If Lovejoy's had been the venue and it had been 15 years ago then it would have been doing it's job. Lovejoy's wasn't even opened when this was printed. It could have been displayed without stapling it to a leaky ceiling. I'm all for the poster getting posted and doing the job when the show is happening but fifteen years after the fact have some respect for the art. This is a classic piece and prolly very few in circulation. Bonehead move if you ask me.   2002-05-07 14:21:15
Steve HSend Steve H a message :   not cause it was getting ruined but cause it was stapled in an inaccesable place (no wot i mean ;-) )   2002-05-07 14:07:56
Platinum RichSend Platinum Rich a message :   getting ruined? the poster is just doing its job. poster unused and in some collector's flat-file make me cringe.   2002-05-07 14:00:47
Steve HSend Steve H a message :   i can imagine ur frustration dude!   2002-05-07 13:11:38
stinkbaitSend stinkbait a message :   There used to be one of these stapled to the ceiling in Lovejoy's. Made me cringe knowing that it was getting ruined and I couldn't save it. One of my faves.   2002-05-07 13:09:23
Steve HSend Steve H a message :   yea, this poster is great, very simple but the orange and black & white keeps this one interesting and groovy 8) to top it off its for a cool band; i'd love one of these but i'd probably need a mortgage to afford one right? ;-)   2002-05-07 12:58:41
AnnacasSend Annacas a message :   one of my favorite posters here.. great band!! perfect colors.   2002-05-07 12:44:44
jasoncrossSend jasoncross a message :   See rockologist you have seen the work around town then. What was Studio 709 transformed into Factor27...we do regret we couldn't work something out with Jason Austin, but we had to move on. The new Spiritualized should be out around town in a day or so. Being an Austin native Nels, Kozik, Jason Austin have all been inspirational. We attempt to keep towing the line.   2002-04-04 12:21:21
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   studio 709...AHA! i saw that THE THE poster on the wall at little city and flipped out. i kept having to tell my girlfriend i really WAS paying attention to her (now what she did just say)!   2002-04-04 10:53:17
stinkbaitSend stinkbait a message :   THIS is what Kozik is about to me. Not the day glo and cartoons. This era was what was important. Melding Victor Moscoco and Stanley Mouse with his twisted acid interpretations. Awesome.
I had this along with other Koziks from this era as wallpaper and I did get in trouble. not for this one but for the butthole surfers/flaming lips one I had right in the center. Now I'm the boss and have Butthole Shurfers and Flaminglips poster hanging in my office. Now it's "art" since I'm not a punk temp. I worked with Jason for about a year we have three or four posted under Studio 709 on this site. He has some amazing posters we just couldn't work the studio stuff out.

rockologistSend rockologist a message :   yeah, his stuff always affected me more than kozik's. my roommate had one on a wall in our living rooom, and it gave me the willies, much creepier than kozik's work. jason austin has always been a fave.   2002-04-04 08:50:34
John ASend John A a message :   Somebody really should post some of Jason's stuff up here. I put up one last week, but those early Jesus Lizard and Butthole Surfers posters by him really should be seen.   2002-04-04 08:42:52
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   this is the kind of stuff that got me into poster art, this and an old jason austin/butthole surfers poster from the late 80s-early 90s. before then, it was all just hippie dribble to my little punk rawk eyes...   2002-04-04 07:54:20
Nolen StralsSend Nolen Strals a message :   yeah this was one of the ones in Frank's first book that I got as a pre-balding youth and thought "man, I wish he'd do more f-edup stuff like this". If it wouldnt' get me in trouble with the heads, I'd put this as the wallpaper on my computer at work   2002-04-04 06:02:27
kolfacekillaSend kolfacekilla a message :   awesome poster. geez.   2002-04-03 22:43:02
