You can feel hints of the same ideas in the writing of Lovecraft and Howard's Conan books (and sorta Tolkein). On a different level but similar is some of the great Szukalski's work. Pseudo-scientific analysis of anatomy and its relationship with ethnicity was a hot topic right into the early 20th century.

I saw a pbs programme about that guy last week, basically stated through science that as whites had the largest brain cavity they were the superior of the races. Same thing?

nope..I have the book this came from. some french 18th 0r 19th century guy drew 'different animal types' found in human physigionomy. like..early phrenological drawings..to prove that various social castes resembled a hierarchical order of animal types.
