Okay, okay, okay. These are amazing pieces but I just can't get over the fact that the paintings are made and then at some point the names are added on. It's kind of offensive to me as a poster artist. Sorry, I'm a little drunk.

actually... no concept from the artist side!! chavez paints these independant of any band or gig... an artist im friends with says the stuff we dont see is even cooler!! simply if bgp likes a work, they ask him if they can use it for a poster.. ie the stones/pearl jam etc.. this guy is amazing... you can buy his stuff sans band names or if you have enough scratch you can buy the originals.

Aaah..the magic of Randy Chavez..a rhino jumping through a ring of fire..that's some mind at work..check out the flying penguins on the Blues Traveler poster @ his website.. http://www.randychavez.com More deep rich warm colours to comfort the eye..serving as distraction from the hints of the unknown cold darkness..the light from the fire on the beasts back..and the shaded dark underbelly..Look atop the horn..this Rhino is acting the fool..a clown..in a surreal circus..how better to illustrate the demonic freakshow practices that conspire under the sinister big top in the name of children’s entertainment.. Even the minor detail here has a subtext...and it stands out a mile..replacing the & with a fullstop in the band lettering ..variation away from the norm..the Heartbreakers getting recognition beyond the status of support to Tom’s ringmaster...way cool...
