True, it was done for really cheap, and no I didn't give him rights to it. But I verbally said, "you can use it for whatever. If you want to make it into shirts or something, we can talk about that." It was made of course only to promote this show. He emailed me and said "since it was successful, we'll probably be doing more of these (types of posters) in the future.
So yeah, I should just make the artprint. The original is 12 x 18, and I'd probably make the artprint at least 16x20 or larger, and I'm with Amy Jo, I think the colors are working.
Now I just have to find time to do it.
I have PLANS to make art prints from past posters designs, but I haven't done it yet. I have made a painting (first of many) from an old poster, but that's all so far.
This was the poster (b/w version) I saw posted at the Wedge bulletin board driving up Lyndale and I said "OH, new Turman poster!"
adam - i don't think you need to ask his permission to make this into an art print. i'm guessing you probably did this for a bargain basement price and he did NOT buy the rights to the art correct? leia and dwitt make artprints of their posters. maybe just change the color scheme and make it a different size. although this color scheme is really awesome.
Well I've thought about that cause I'd like to do it. I'm wondering if that would be ok with the guy I made this for in the first place. Maybe I should ask him?
Anyway, I think the Flogging Molly artprint could be arranged. I'm working on something for Claudia Hek.
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.
Punchy's hair is so soft.
Thanks everyone, well, there's definately Sara influence here. I think the glasses do it.
This was a very small run. Like 35 or something. The Hopefuls label have sold almost all of them already (before the date and everything). I'm hoping to do more of these types of posters for them with bigger runs in the future.
