this is one of the best posters i have ever seen. it LOOKS how m-b SOUND without pandering to any boring stereotypes the way ALOT of posters do theses days to illustrate the music. it's great, no japan cliches, no girl music images, no noise visual puns just brightly colored chaos with beautifull illustration and lettering. i want one.

Yeah, I've run into this one before and admired it. I'm not familiar with Melt Banana's music. But this looks like what I'd imagine they sound like. Nice job, Nolan. My favorite of yours.

The story with this one: Melt Banana has crazy lyrics, my friend Ted Mineo draws these crazy things out of hsi head all the time and is a big Melt Banana fan, so I said "draw enough of your characters together that each one can have a word balloon, one for each letter of the band's name and leave a box at the bottom for other stuff." He did just that...and amazingly well, in like a day and a half! I did the "Melt Banana" letters in a way to try to emulate the feel of his linework. Oh, and that blue ink, it glows in the dark that eery greenish color...so when the lights go out you just have these weird people floating on your wall. On some of these "Melt Banana" is also in that blue. Thanks for the Fort Thunder comment, I love the work that came out of that place, and actually I'm supposed to be collaborating with Brian Ralph (a former Fort person) sometime soon.
