Once again back is the incredible...Who's got my Rockwell9 comment??? And what's with all the hating??? "I don't think this is legit...This is portfolio padding." Two words, FUCK YOU...To seripop, tysonkreft, and steve w, good luck in life , no really, good luck..."Having the city on a poster is pretty unusual." You can't be serious...I once heard that bands go on this thing called "tour" and they announce "tour dates" which include the city they're playing in, so that some people can, HOLY SHIT, see them LIVE...Stop the hating...Naduval is ready to rock it, anywhere, anytime; keep doin' your damn thing...I've seen the posters myself, and let me tell you, they're legit...So to all you haters out there, two more words, SUCK IT...peace and good lovin', i'm OFF like DEET.
Sounds like he posted two and then his legit stuff was dragged into it and Chloe et all kept digging when she wasn't correct. Everything said about this poster isn't right. Her assumptions about it are not right. This being a portfolio pad is not right. That's my point. A couple were correctly identified, not a bunch and he pulled them and even after that he was stil being questioned after it was explained as well. I've seen too many new folks railed on for no good reason here. No sense in that.
Witch hunts happen when people are persecuted for things they aren't/didn't do "witches."
Chloe...none of the "regulars' were malicious toward the art/design at all. They called it out..100% right.
He posted a bunch of unauthorized portfolio/student work posters, now they're gone. They weren't even mean, other than suspecting the posters were unauthorized, which was true.
Whether anyone thinks that people can post unauthorized posters or not is a whole different deal.
"All I've ever seen is the 6 or so posters this guy has and a handful of folks get really self righteous about them being legit. what is under his profile are unknown bands with what look to be straight up posters. and some of you are freaking out about them."
The other ones were removed earlier dude.
For instance, there was one for an Acrade Fire show in Tokyo.

i picture BJ, late at night whispering to himself in bed...
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.
My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will....
My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count.
We will hit...
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights, and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until there is no enemy, but Peace!
Hostility? YOU are the hostile one..instead of talking bouit the layout or whtever you get some weed up your yang about 'legit' . and then start running around in circles peeing all over the place.
I notice that MOST 'newbies' are like immediately attacked.
THAT IS SUPER LAME.
I like this poster. I think it looks cool and I could give a flug if it's 'real or not' cause I dont even know anything about the band.
I hope they are not MATH ROCK.
i don't really get the hostility.
the guy admited that the posters in question were fake and had clay pull em.
i dunno know about the rest of you buty i alweays thought the of the valuble things about gp was that newbies could learn from more experienced poster makers.
the guy didn't know.
now he does.
better to find out on an online forum that by a cease and desist.
I've been haunting this site for four fucking years and its always been that unauthorized portfolio pieces are not welcome. Clay can't possibly know if everything being submitted is legit, so its up to us to make the call and be honest about what we submit. Lets keep it real, shall we?
This poster is actually kind of pleasently mesmerizing...
This guy has decent work. If he wants to post it, I'd rather see it than alot of the "legit" posters I see on here sometimes. To each his own, but I agree with Kozik, let this guy do what it takes to get noticed.
So if I did a poster for [insert biggest band in the world here] without being asked, and sent it to them even if they didnt want it, it would be eligible for posting here?
Cause that would really help raise my profile.
All the posters here on the site seem perfectly legit. I've done plenty of posters that were comissioned by the band to just be for that single band. As a mtter of fact I'm doing an entire tour right now that simply lists the band, venue and date. AND they are being sent and used as promo so don't try and play that bullshit card. Having a price and other bands never qualified a poster as legit and not having them isn't wierd.
You guys harping on him are being way nutty about this. This guy has no reason to have to defend himself. What's with the dog pile? Find something really problematic to jump on like someone stealling art but not something like real posters that don't fit your criteria for "legit."
well...I know for a fact that this guy works for a design firm on the East Coast and is hooked up nicely.
I dont get it when you all go 'off' on new people.
ALL of you are fuckin NEWBIES to me except for Chantry.
so eat it.
wow. i cant believe all of this discussion. I am a new grad, my ads on my site are my student ad portfolio (hence my advertising design major) and all of the posters that are on this site are real and have been either given to the members of the bands, been designed by the direction of the bands. The arcade fire one was just an omage to them. I love their music and would love to do work for them and I was just going to send them the image to see if they wanted to use it to help promote their show. I do not sell prints or even get paid for any of these posters. The most I get out of anything is free tickets to shows of bands I like. Im simply trying show people what I can do and share design with this community that I thought was all about appreciating good design, but I guess people are reading way too into things and making empty, uneducated assumptions. Im just a designer trying to make it like the rest of you so please give me a break here, I have done nothing wrong.
Look dude, if you ARE looking to make some posters to pad out your portfolio, there are lots of legitimate ways to do it.
Theres always local bands that could use some free work (if youre doing fictitious posters, youre working for free anyway and at least this way someone gets something out of it) and good ones at that.
I dont know for sure that you are. But if you are, theres better ways to build a portfolio.
this is an actual poster, used for and requested by the band. I helped out the bass player flush out a design idea he had and this design was also converted into a 4 x 6 promo postcard... but thanks for all of your loving comments
i think this guy's posters are fake for a few reasons
a) apart from 3 posters for shows in horthhampton all the posters he has up are for diffrent cities,
right there that is kinda weird.
b)the lack of info on most of these posters. no opening bands listed , no price , no set time , no promoter's credit , nada
just the headliner , date , venue and city.
having the city on a poster is pretty unusual.
i really get the feeling that these are portfolio padding
