krauseSend krause a message :   jesus- who let the apes out !?   2005-04-03 05:56:40
RhysSend Rhys a message :   Always love a bit of Bush bashing, (apart from our PM, what Aussie doesn't) and dig the poster, but apart from the ape reference I am not sure how this fits Queens. They are so not a political band. In fact the tour t shirt from when they where last here had "Ignoring the world's problems since 1996".   2005-03-30 22:54:03
Danny F. CriminalSend Danny F. Criminal a message :   Emek, you are so right with that poster. I love it! It is really high quality, and for me high quality art.   2005-03-28 13:09:33
GrzecaSend Grzeca a message :   Like an insane DelRay paperback. Incredible illo.
Am I seeing things ,or did Richie just reference the New Yorker? My world is blown, yo.

Stainboy ReinelSend Stainboy Reinel a message :   "actually, the type is hand drawn (except the smaller date and venue info) that is just the style i was going for.. old school propaganda poster type.. "
I retract my small gripe below. Personally I don't really care either way. I like the poster a lot and it has nothing to do with my personal politics. I just think it's a cool job.

wezzburlesqueSend wezzburlesque a message :   the illo is really incredible. to nit pick on the type, I would say the image should have ended right above the bottom type, then you really would notice donald picking that "O" out of there. And the font for the date sticks out to me. it's that fake rough stencil style, the way those "2"s jump up higher than the rest of the type. still great though.   2005-03-25 18:37:01
altieriSend altieri a message :   Welcome to the!   2005-03-25 18:29:58

boadiceaSend boadicea a message :   ...Some people.. in the white house.. and on this site.. think they own the place..
EMEK reminds them that they don't. Keep these images out there.

JephSend Jeph a message :   I don't think the text hurts the poster that much...maybe a bit but the illo is killer, the band is popular...I'll bet it sells out. So see...
no problems.

nemotronSend nemotron a message :   have any of you looked at the type? like... just look at it. it seems to have just been thrown on there last second.   2005-03-25 17:32:26

bdixSend bdix a message :   If I did a poster for Washington DC, it would have Patrick Ewing on it. And maybe Richie Goodtimes, just for the hell of it.   2005-03-25 17:17:07
richeditorSend richeditor a message :   Awesome poster, and DC sure needs more. 8th biggest market and no scene to match it. It does bring out a pet peeve, though: The political theme. If you live in DC, everything has to have a political theme. You can't just have a rock poster for the sake of a rock poster, with cool melting stuff on it. And fire. It gets real old real fast. When Chicago had cow statues and SF had hearts around town- DC had donkeys and elephants as the public art. It gets opressive. Anyway, awesome poster.   2005-03-25 16:37:46
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   Inside joke for the masses. Oh ho ho...I agree with that! I can relate. That's how I feel.
Same shit...different day. Too easy.
Do something political that actually says something new and shines a new light on something.
I'm sure that this is an amazing print.

JohnnyThiefSend JohnnyThief a message :   See what you miss on these fine posts, E? It can be like stepping in front of a train being driven by James Dobson,...
Now that I think about it, why do I subject myself to this?

needlesSend needles a message :   shut up richie. get back in bed and nurse that yeast infection.   2005-03-25 16:27:38
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   So they'll be plastered all over the streets? Nice work.
Fight the good fight. Fuck capitalism and government and what not.
You EMEK are a hero of the revolution.
  2005-03-25 16:26:39
EMEKSend EMEK a message :   all the queens posters are also used for promotion, many are sent to the club and promoter a few weeks before the shows..   2005-03-25 16:19:59
SashSend Sash a message :   well, yeah. like most rock posters, it's directed to its audience. but busybody censor types could always spot it and make a ruckus. which is always nice.   2005-03-25 16:15:13
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   So in effect...EMEK is sticking it to...
Are these pieces of merchandise going up around DC or is it just about selling to the converted at the show and after?
  2005-03-25 16:13:06
SashSend Sash a message :   I don't think it's that controversial. though it might be in certain bible-thumping patriotic chest-thumping quarters.   2005-03-25 16:10:57
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   Well that's an original idea that I'm sure a New Yorker cartoonist has never considered.   2005-03-25 16:07:41
SashSend Sash a message :   the political message I read into it is: This administration is a bunch of war-mongerers going apeshit.
of course I could be wrong.
  2005-03-25 16:06:57
JohnnyThiefSend JohnnyThief a message :   Oh, I'm with ya, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I might make about, oh, you know, little things like the Geneva Convention, & with the pile on I recieve you'd think I was on a Focus on The Family website,...
Which is one of the many reasons why I love your work,..! This is me, segueing back to the poster,...!
  2005-03-25 16:03:47
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   It's not that controversial. It's pretty safe.
Fits QOTSA perfectly.
  2005-03-25 16:03:16
EMEKSend EMEK a message :   well, only half the people have to like it for it to sell out quickly. and whats the big deal? i just a rock poster.. you know.. "shock value T&A" ...controversy..   2005-03-25 15:58:05
JohnnyThiefSend JohnnyThief a message :   Fight the good fight E! If I had posted this in a forum, man, I'd be in for a good ass chewin'! ;)   2005-03-25 15:52:40
Stainboy ReinelSend Stainboy Reinel a message :   Spread that democracy. This looked great in-person at FS. I'd love to see this with your badass hand-lettering, but understand you gotta be under considerable tight deadlines with this tour.   2005-03-25 15:41:14
EMEKSend EMEK a message :   2 solid weeks of drawing every little hair and tuft... lovingly rendered .. in black, then dark brown, then light brown, then white highlights... lots of overgrown roots too...   2005-03-25 15:21:34
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   What political statement does this make?
Seems kind of ham fisted.
