no teh text in the lower right is my information and promoter contact information...all written wayyy too big. I shoulda made it like half that size in hindsight. sorry.
I got the nicest email about a month ago. Some designer in DC had bought this through the promoter's site (it's sold out now) and she sent me a jpeg of it framed at her apt. I thought that was pretty cool.
nolen, i just did a poster for a person, and actually the same thing happened.. it turned out actually to make her look like an alien with only one nostril... hence the problem.. so i know what you mean..
a simple promo, but it was just that, nothing artistic in my mind..
HA! fewer people asked about the nose than I expected to... I had it in there for a sketch, just to see how it would look, but without linework on there...the looked like a pig... so I just let her nose suggest it.
The sketch for this drawing had such a nice quality to it I almost went with it instead of this style, but in the long run this was more in line with the idea I had.
i take it that's a yelling at me as if offended by this poster? you did this on my atom and his package collaborative piece too.
do you hate teh work or just me?
Come on dude offer some criticism at least...just like the elusive Clint, you just deride but can't back it up? *yawn*
Okay, so I talk a lot on here, but didnt' have anything up...mainly coz I don't have good pics of my work yet...but here's one for now.
This is the biggest poster I've done, I think it's 20" or 21" wide x 26" tall. Printing that big kicked my ass with each layer.
The concept here was just to keep the imagery and text simple, like the White Stripes' music (well, the first album anyways, with all the stripped down blues rock). I had a friend with the right hair and clothes to pose for a drawing and then cut the whole thing out of Rubylith.
I like the type, which I tried to execute in a 60's style, and I like the image, I'm just not so sure how well I pulled them together with this poster. There's another version of this, where the blue is deeper, more like a denim blue that I like better.
