no - they didn't like the poster, they LOVED the poster. i think they're the nicest band that's ever played the club...even though some metal dude threatened to rip their assholes in half with his teeth. seriously.
Well I am disappointed that band liked it. I mean what a bunch of stupid mouth breathers. They didn't even notice how fucked up the credit line is.
It was a test to see if the band were smart enough to know good design. They failed obviously.
they just played a cover of the theme from King of the Hill, then slammed right into "Observer To The Obliteration Of Planet Earth".
the most sublime part of the evening.
Prolific? I have done like, 4 posters in 6 months or longer. 2 of those were these 2 collabs. In 2003 I did 4 posters a month for a whole year.
I am still pretty much retired.
hey its just something i dont like on posters unless you overdo it, so yes for me that makes it UNCOOL, sorry just my opinion, maybe because its the green that grabs your attention like 'hey heres the info you need to look at..'. just dont hope theyll do it wth my poster soon..
i should say that - when i first looked at this...
i saw a weird creature like thing kneeling down (like in a praying position) hunched over with its hands on its head like clutching at hair.
that doesnt make me weird or somethin does it?
I thought you were talking about a "line of credit", like from a bank...
or is it a line of credit to pay for more hand jobs. (?)
I think I am still confused...
Great job. The rendering rocks. I like it.
The printer should always get credit. Printers are artists as well when comes to the silkscreen process. Plus, the whole goddamn poster is nothing but an ad.
Is this all designery? I don't know. Maybe.
The band is entirely about WEED. So weed HAD to go on it as far as I was concerned. Nothing would really fir this band better than having ONLY a pot plant on it, but I needed a way to get the text on there in an interesting fashion. So of course I cheesed out and put a skull on it like I always do.
Andy is my publisher. He has always gone above and beyond the call of duty for me. I will never feel bad about putting his info on my work.
Our collectors want the series numbers on the posters so they can keep track of what is what in our catalog. I was going to make the tagline black, but at the last minute decided to make it green and offset to the side. I thought it fit with the non linear way I did the rest of the "graphic design".
That is all.
Ok, so it sounds like he's just saying that the cred line is to prominent which not a big deal.
Nothing wrong with giving your printer credit though. I wouldn't ever underestimate them in this process.
exactly.
as an aside on this thread, while it's true that posters' desired affect is to promote shows, I truly believe (even as a promoter), that their should be credit given where credit is due on truly stunning posters... so if they want to put their name on it - no biggie.
Unless it stinks.

ya thats sort of what i meant...the purpose of this poster is to "promote" the show and "promote" name recognition for the artists involved (to sell posters and services)...whereas Jelle's flyers are almost strictly to get the information abou the show to the public...2 different things no better nno worse...thats all...i gotta take a shower and go to work now good day everyone!
its apples and oranges....lets face it; bands like Jelle promotes probably need the flyers to get the word out and get people to the show...my guess is that Cephalic Carnage would draw almost the same crowd with or without this flyer.
Yeah, and what's the incentive for the artist/designer if he isn't in the band and is getting paid little or no money to do the poster?
Exposure = credit on the poster
this kicks all sorts of ass, but i sorta wish the green parts were just red too.
and i agree the printing cred pops more than anything else on the thing.
regardless.
i restate.
THIS IS FUCKING GOOD.
"So it's because the line of type at the bottom is green and stands out too much?"
For me, yeah. The first thing my eye flows to is the tag line.
I think Jelle is more displeased that there's an actual credit on the poster, which is whatever to me. What's the point of doing a poster if you can't put a credit on it?
UN-COOL = UN-CLE
bdix said uncool meant something else in his book. jella said "brother of your dad"? (meaning uncle)
Gimme some of that cold medicine.
this is the oddest criticism I ever read. So it's because the line of type at the bottom is green and stands out too much? Is that right?
The smoke lettering is awesome by the way.
Not liking they way they put it on there is different than saying it's uncool that they gave DFP their due credit. That's how I took it. And your timing couldn't be more bad with the "uncle" statement.
Does ferg smoke weed?
i like anything mike has a hand in, it feels real, like from the heart for a real music fan.
know what i mean?
ferg is a master too.
