Steph NitroSend Steph Nitro a message :   after all that... i just have to add my halfpence. stacked type can work fab. I did a series using it. it gave the promoter a graphic-identity. people recongnised imediately who was throwing the party. no one ever complained bout legibility... leaving a tad more space between the colums helps.   2007-09-06 15:06:59

Maybe other people have more time or are more interested in this kind of thing. If it fits a need then great and more power to the designer.   2007-09-04 16:46:41

Mark McCormickSend Mark McCormick a message :   i like this poster. it's interesting, and i had no problems reading it. it's a great gigposter! i will say this... when i was taking design classes, vertical text would have resulted in an immediate "F"   2007-09-04 15:57:06

ozworkzSend ozworkz a message :   "You may very well be dumb, though." If I start spending 20hrs a day on gigposters can I start calling people dumb too? awesome!   2007-09-04 14:24:56
RichieGoodtimesSend RichieGoodtimes a message :   You may very well be dumb, though.   2007-09-04 14:20:53
ozworkzSend ozworkz a message :   "no offense but i often wonder if peeps complaining about stuff being illegible are just dumb." Who is complaining? It was my comment, not complaint. If you like looking at art prints all day long that's fine, but when information is involved in the message, I believe it should be legible; that's just basic design.   2007-09-04 14:17:27

Ron LibertiSend Ron Liberti a message :   i like when the mass audience stop and look and think as apposed to just glancing. i would stop and look at this poster , and have fun trying to figure it out and probably remember the show because of it. eric used to live in carrboro , we miss him and his art and his drumming.   2007-09-04 11:59:57
Robbie FuctSend Robbie Fuct a message :   the promoters ive worked for would generally be against this. mostly because you are appealing to a mass audience that generally just glance at fliers. and they would prefer to have text easiest on the eyes.   2007-09-04 10:02:48
seriplopSend seriplop a message :   oh no! the text goes from up to down instead of left to right. brain . can not.process. ooga booga.   2007-09-04 09:51:23
ROTATORSend ROTATOR a message :   re: legibillity. I guess it depends on the venue. If I was a club owner paying for a poster, I'd want people to make it to the show. not just provide an opportunity for the artist to make a promo piece. that being said, I prefer posters that are more art oriented.   2007-09-04 09:12:06
standardSend standard a message :   thanks for quoting before responding, DENNY. god knows no one would've figured out who you were talking to! what is this? 1955?   2007-09-04 08:22:35
dennyschmickleSend dennyschmickle a message :   "no offense but i often wonder if peeps complaining about stuff being illegible are just dumb."
TOTALLY agree. It's like we're designing posters for Lawrence Welk or something. Stuff from 50 years ago was crazy-hard to read and errbody loves it.

ozworkzSend ozworkz a message :   can't say I agree. I guess its always interesting in a purely visual/graphic sense to see vertical type like this. Although, its totally illegible. Maybe if it was some kind of crossword puzzle concept it might work.   2007-09-03 23:51:17
