Kerry has voted to raise taxes dozens of times in the senate and has voted against ALL of Bush's tax cuts. Kerry openly promises to raise the death tax rate, the capital gains tax rate, and the dividend tax rate. He would raise the capital gains tax from 15% to 20% and the dividend tax from 15% to 35%. He'll raise the highest income earner's tax rate by 40%, the middle rate by 28%, and the lowest by 15%. The people in the highest tax bracket are generally small business owners who will get hit the hardest and hurt the most. Those same people are responsible for most of the new jobs being created. You'd see that come to a screeching halt. Repealing Bush's tax cuts will drive the stock market down which will reduce the household wealth of millions of average Americans (even polls showing Kerry moving ahead of Bush drive the stock market down). Last year, Kerry had a chance to cut taxes for people who make less than $200,000 but didn't. If Kerry had been in charge and the Bush tax cut had been voted down, there would be no child credit...no reduction in the income tax rates...and no elimination of the marriage penalty tax. I know shit loads of people who have gotten huge tax returns and child credits because of Bush's tax cuts. People on this site were even posting what great returns they got last year. So go ahead and vote for Kerry if you really think his tax plan will be better for the economy. And if you truly believe he won’t raise taxes except for the rich.
>>>income redistribution: THIS COULD BE A GOOD THING<<<
If you believe income redistribution is a good thing then you should vote Kerry for sure.
>>>a weak military: YEAH, AMERICA'S MILITARY MIGHT WILL GO DOWN THE TUBES, PLEASE GIVE ME ANY NON PARTISAN DOCUMENTATION THAT EVEN IMPLIES THIS. discontinued weapons programs: AGAIN, A GOOD THING FOR ME<<<
Agan, Kerry's Military voting record speaks for itself. He's voted against every weapon's system that is currently being used today in both Iraq and Afghanistan. As well as often voting against Military pay raises and veterans benefits. Including the 86.5 Billion to fund our troops in the Middle East. See for yourself: http://www.vote-smart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=S0421103 Kerry Voted Against B-1 Bomber. Then was one of only 12 Senators who voted against the 86.5 billion supplemental funding of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, including $1.3 billion for Veterans medical care. (10/17/2003, S. 1689) Kerry 'announced' for the bill that would authorize $400.5 billion in appropriations for defense, military construction and defense-related work for the Department of Energy. BUT DID NOT VOTE. It passed 98-1 (5/22/2003, S. 1050) Kerry Never voted on a bill that would appropriate $79.5 billion in fiscal 2003 discretionary spending for military operations in Iraq, homeland security, and international counterterrorism activities. Kerry's position was unknown. It passed 93 to 0 (4/03/2003, S 762) Kerry voted against authorizing $265.6 billion in appropriations for 1997 for military activities of the Department of Defense, military construction, and Department of Energy defense activities. Including a 2.4% cost-of-living increase for members of the armed forces. (9/10/1996, HR 3230) Kerry voted to reduce the 1997 defense budget by $8.3 billion. The amendment was rejected 42-57. (5/15/1996, S Con Res 57) Kerry introduced a bill to slash defense department funding by $6.5 billion. Kerry’s bill had no co-sponsors and never came to a floor vote. Measure failed 45-53. (9/18/1992, S 3114) Kerry voted to reduce the defense spending levels for smaller weapon projects by $8.8 billion in fiscal 1993. Measure rejected 45-50. During the 1980s, Kerry And Michael Dukakis Joined Forces With a Liberal Group dedicated to slashing defense. On what he’ll do if he’s elected to Congress, Kerry said he would ‘bring a different kind of message to the president.’ He said he would vote against military appropriations." ("Candidate’s For Congress Capture Campus In Andover," Lawrence [MA] Eagle-Tribune, 4/21/72) >>>UM, WELL SHOULDN'T THE UN HAVE SOME ROLE IN A "LEGITIMATE" WAR?<<<
Are you saying the UN should dictate American Policy?
America should never put its own security in someone else's hands. Remember, it was the world after 9/11. Every intelligence agency in the world...including Vladimir Putin...said Saddam was a threat to the US. There is no dispute that he was a madman, a murderer, a torturer, he was a sworn enemy of the US, he invaded Kuwait, he launched missiles into Israel, he funded suicide bombers and harbored and funded terrorists...and was believed by everyone to possess WMD and trying to get his Nuclear program up and running. Bush tried diplomacy...he went to the UN a number of times. He gave Saddam a 48 hour notice to step down...And then the US did nothing less than enforce the UN resolutions already in place. The stakes were just too high to do nothing, and to get the UN's and Frances approval. Besides, we did have over 30 countries with united with us.
The UN is a joke. They were doing nothing. If they had stepped up, and taken responsibility at any time during the12 years since Gulf 1, Saddam might have come to believe they were serious and cooperated, but how could he when they threatened action but never did anything? Instead they let him continually break resolution after resolution and play hide and seek with the Weapons inspectors. And Saddam was laughing all the way to the bank. Now we also see what was really going on with the Oil For Food Program...widespread fraud, and bribery of UN officials, and member states.
Is the UN really an organization that America should trust? Especially to uphold it's interests and security? That's what Kerry wants and vows to make his priority. That's scary.
>>>WHAT COUNTS AS KISSING FRANCE'S ASS? (NOT TO SOUND AGGRESSIVE BUT SOME MIGHT CALL THIS "DIPLOMACY" YES?)<<<
Listen, I'm not against diplomacy with France, however Kerry tries to make it sound like it's somehow Bush's fault that relationships are strained with them. When the reality is that France had selfish reasons to oppose our ousting Saddam. And France has repeatedly done everything possible to cause problems for the US in our war on terror and in Iraq. At the UN... at the NATO summit... in the EU...around the world. They call us allies to our face, and then supply yellow cake and nerve agents to Saddam Hussein, take illegal bribes, and write billion dollar checks to Camaroon, Madagascar, Germany, Canada and Russia to vote against the US at the United Nations. They threatened to veto 10 European country's entries into the E.U. because they supported the U.S.'s war effort... They had sweetheart deals with Iraq to get cheap oil... while supplying Saddam with money and weapons. Weapons used against our own troops. Sorry, but hearing Kerry say that his first foreign affairs priority is to make nicey-nice with France and the UN...is just nuts in my opinion.

And now is no time for a President with that kind of defense record. In my opinion it would be insane to vote for Kerry. So are gonna call me names now?
And I haven't even touched on Kerry's flip-flops and how he changes his position on whatever he thinks will win him votes.

Kerry's daughters were both there, they did this whole satirical interview onstage with bob odenkirk (of HBO's Mr. Show) as James Lipton (Bravo's Inside the Actors Studio) that was really witty and did not seem rehearsed, so it was cool to see Kerry's daughters getting all embarrassed on stage (in a cute way). Liz Phair rocked, but dave grohl told funny stories and played a great show, and then Tenacious D blew the house down, with a string orchestra and lots of actors in costume, as Bush and Cheney, Sasquatch, Spiderman and Michael Moore and others did really funny skits and break dancing and dave grohl jammed with them, it was an unbelievable show...lots of encores too... and as many of you know, they were all very approachable and easy to hang with backstage, and i got introduced to everyone as "here is EMEK the artist who did the poster that you guys were all going nuts over.." so that was nice..   2004-07-07 10:32:29
