Gack, my dsl has been off all day....
Yea Zach, after the event opens, anyone who has tickets for sale is willing to let them go cheap by Saturday.... it's either that or lose all the money. Ebay is another good place to look for tickets.
Perkins, the first year we camped in general camping, and this one poor guy was so trashed walking through the camping area yelling, "Michaeeeeelll..... where's my tent?" for like an hour. We just laid in the tent and giggled. There's some people who just sleep where they fall.....
Ah, good times!
"It's a most amazing site to look out over hundreds of acres of tents....."
No shit...It's also a trip to be hammered at the end of a long day and get lost trying to find your own tent. No kidding- I walked about 10 extra miles one night before i found my tent...in SANDALS.
:D Hell yeah I'll be there!
Perkins totally surprised me when he came up!! We're going to do it again this year, huh, Billy? I'll have the Jagermeister....
Zach, we're going bare bones this year.... just 3 of us working the booth. Last year we had a bunch of people, but we all ended up hanging out at the booth most of the time, so it was redundant. B'roo only gives 3 passes per vendor for 3 days of 24 hr action. They make you pay for any extras. There are usually cheap tickets to be had on the route in.
You really should think about going since you're so close... it's the wildest thing you've ever seen. Just bring at least 3 pairs of regular shoes, and a pair of rubber boots, extra clothes, and pack it all into waterproof packages.... it rained like hell last year, but the year before was pretty clear.

It's real easy to dismiss this or any festival if you have never gone and experienced one like this first hand. This particular fest has something for everyone. Sonic Youth plays, as does the Dead. There are 100,000+ attendees of all walks, ideals, and genres. Some folks definitely would not like the heat, nor the weather if it is raining, but this will be our 3rd year going.
We're masochistic that way...
I definitely didn't see Dave Matthews. There are multiple stages all going on at the same time. From what I can remember, I saw Patti Smith, Robert Randolph, Los Lonely Boys, Govt Mule and a few others...the rest of the time I was becoming one with the hippies, and the hippie chicks...
We saw Taj Mahal play the day after a 24 hour rainstorm that flooded the hndreds of porta-johns & turned all of the mud into shit soup. I have pics of people covering themselves in it from head to toe.
Out of this line-up,
I'd like to see:
I might not mind seeing:
Yo La Tengo
I simply would not see:
Dave Matthews & Friends
String Cheese Incident
thanks again for the comments, very awesome and undeserved. i am not especially into any of the bands on this poster, but it was fun to do. not clip art, but i guess kinda just generically hippy-ish. i especially though the monsters of rock was a nice touch. i mean String Cheese Incident? The Dead? pure nonstop rock.
let me try this again. it's has a clip art feel to me with the vw's and the buses. they look like old school clip art from some 60's or 70's book. it is clearly not all clip art. i'm sure mr. stout could fill us in on how he created an amazing poster.
