My wife's mom lived in a house in SF with Blue Cheer back in the hippie days.
When I asked her for some good Blue Cheer stories, she claimed not to remember any ("Those were crazy times...")
But with some prompting she was able to confirm the case-per-day-of-Olde-English myth.

i know that blue cheer held the decible record for years and years from a show at the fillmore that was off the charts. bit then the who came along and made qucik work of that. and then punk came along and made townsend go deaf in self-defence.
my ears actually bled after a led zep concert once. must have been an eardrum that gave.

Blue Cheer was so loud, a dog wandered onto stage and died.
Possibly apocryphal, but nice to think about. Except for the dog, of course. Perhaps he was only stunned.
