This print brings back some weird memories. It was the first of many posters that Satch would print for me. At the time, my friend Wade at Secret Hideout was doing all of my printing. I took it to Wade to print, and immediately noticed that something was not right that day. All the lights were off in the shop, and he was walking around a lot and not making eye contact. If you knew Wade, this was not necessarily unusual, but still...something wasn't right. The next day he shot himself. A very tragic and sad ending to the life of a wonderfully funny and charming guy. I'm still very proud of this piece (and even getting this gig), but it'll always remind me of that time.
this here is a snowy owl, indiginous of Northern Canada. it's a sometime straggler to the Northern half of the United States and rarely to the southern states..it is a daytime hunter and subsists off of lemmings.
I like Barn owls.
penguins are cool..and ostriches..and perregrin falcons..humming birds..roadrunners..ospreys...grouse..woodpeckers..cmon man  the posters cool tho, might have to buy one..and yes, so are owls
Owls are the only birds that are cool. Their heads don't twist off as easily as other birds either.
In some Indian tribes, the sight of an owl signifies that someone is going to die. My wife had a girl friend who was Seneca. She came over EVERY FUCKING DAY after work and drank every beer in the fridge while she chatted with my wife. She didn't leave until ALL the beer was gone. This went on for months. One day I happened to be working on an owl illustration for a client. I taped it to the refrigerator door before she got there. She came bouncing in right on schedule & headed for the kitchen. Stopped her dead in her tracks. She refused to get a beer out of the fridge, or even go into the kitchen! When I wouldn't get it for her, she left beerless.
That's POWER.
This will be a 4-color screen print, roughly 17 x 24. I'm looking for some really nice thick "art" paper to print it on.....like what Mike King's Built to Spill series poster was printed on, if anyone has any suggestions.
