About two years ago my teen rock combo ( Nutrajet ) we're called up to back Carrol for a few numbers to close his spoken word appearance in Tampa. Then we were informed last-minute that he didn't want to do anything from Catholic Boy. That nixed it for us.
Paul, I love “City Drops Into Night ”
Cool poster!
Bay Area Music Awards, originally
conceived by BAM Magazine. I think Carrol got the "rookie of
the year award" that year I met
him; he'd been hanging out a lot
in SF, so I guess that qualified
him. He did a loud, fast
version of "People Who Died"
at the show--stopped everyone
in their tracks. That and Van
Morrison's "Walkin' in Venice"
were the highlights of that year
for me.
I hung w. Carroll when I
was producing the Bammies
awards show in SF. His song
"When the City Drops Into
the Night" is nearly as good
as "People Who Died (Died)."
