actually, i hate to be a prick, but it would've been a bit later than the 30s, right? action comics #1 came out in 1939, and superman predated batman. i thought batman came along in '42 or '43. as usual, i could be wrong.

this is the batman from the 1930's movie serial. note the lame ass costume. sadly it looked better than the 1960's adam west lame ass costume or the modern 'fake-muscle' lame ass costume.
