I like what Richie said.
with the bandmates its a tough call since they too are practicing artists, so they have an informed opinion about design/aesthetics and such.
Of course they were also drooling over my Vibrators poster too.
I think this was an interesting step. i'm happy with it, but some of the response I've immediately gotten threw me off. I want to find a balance between this type of work, and my illustrated stuff.
'cerebral' cartoons. I want to be a Kent Williams copycat.
dave-
fuck what your band mates think.
your illustrated stuff is FUCKING AWESOME
i wish i could draw 1/8 as well
when people talk of your work do what i do and consider the source.
This one is like more 'cerebral' than your other posters. It's got a pretty cool aesthetic.
It appeals to me less than your ilustrated posters as far as posters go.
Don't take this the wrong way cause it's just an observation but I have a feeling that the people that are most into this are more of the pseudo intellectual types. You know what I mean? The people who over analyze this stuff and like to feel great about themselves when they feel that they know something that ther people don't and they want to let the people who don't get it know that they don't get it and are thusly inferior.
It boggles me that the ones I put the least amount of effort into are works that people really dig.
It makes me think I am trying WAY too hard.
I need a vacation.
dave i's great you are experimenting and playing
i think this is decent bt not as good as your drawn ones
of course you've had more practice drawing than doing this so i guess it's up to you to chose if u wanna invest the effort in this style
my personal fave of yours is the guy with the flowers.
I was 'letting go' of my former styles and processes for Holding On's final performance, their 'letting go'.
I'm kidding. i just made that shit up.
More input please. Johnny Five alive!!
hmm...
there's a couple things going on here that don't really work together well.
it looks unfinished-or accidental. sometimes that haphazardness and mixing of styles works, but i don't think it works on this particular piece.
at least you're branching out-trying new things.
I'd like some input on this one.
its really different from my other work, and I wonder if i should keep trying this weird stuff.
On a TC music bulletin board several have said it's my best yet. I disagree. I want some serious critiques.
Keep in mind the scan is blurry, cause technology and i like to wrestle, not dance.
thanks.
