Point taken Bingybunny. I should have been more clear. I never intended to compare this artist to Malevich (there is none), but rather referencing the style in response to the "circle" comment.
And my last comment was referring to art in general and not to this poster.
danielleslorince- rest assured,Sanford & Sons repeats will go on untarnished by this um... poster. DamnDirtyApe... in its defense you do not need to compare it to Malevich or declare it as "art" or "impressive" as it is neither.
"Can't really consider this a piece of art. It only has a circle!" (?) Obviously you've never heard of Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935) or Kenneth Noland (1924-2010). It's called minimalism, and yes, it's an artform.
Now, to set the story straight. None of my family has any relation to this project and I don't care how the (sell) of this poster is going because I didn't create it and I'm not selling it.
Lastly, making art from a medium designed for a completely different purpose makes it all the more impressive.
Only way you got to make this poster was because you had a family member involved. Can't really consider this a piece of art. It only has a circle!
How is the sell of your "Due to popular demand" poster selling Ape? You think there is a reason nobody wants to buy this?
Microsoft Word isn't for making posters!
EPIC FAIL!!!!
Whoa, bit harsh don't you think? The best Mumfords poster? No, I agree. But keep in mind this was not designed for a concert, but rather, an intimate Q&A session, with a few accoustic performances by the band, put together by the Steinbeck society to highlight the influence the writer had on the Mumfords' music. Simple and minimal, like the time period. I understand that art is subjective, but to call for the removal of any piece of art because you don't like it is nothing less than pompus.
This is the worst gig poster I have EVER seen!! And for my favorite band!!!
Clearly not done by an artist. Looks like it was done in Microsoft office!!
Mark Welden Smith, please never ever make another "gig" poster! This has tainted the wonderful Mumford & Sons gig poster photo album on here!!
PLEASE TAKE IT DOWN!!!!!!
