is this screenprinted? if so, how'd you pull off the subtle color changes in the flesh? halftoning? just noticed that.

see? i think the drawing is fine and all, but that comment "it's hard to do wrong when you slap a fez on something" bugs me (let's see if I start a second shit storm this week with this comment) but it seems that's teh mentality of a lot of "outsider" or "lowbrow" art. Some guys put a lot of thought into addig these symbols and they understand their history etc. etc. and other dudes are just like "hey man, all teh guys in bowling shirts and girls with betty page haircuts will buy my shit if I throw (insert cliche lowbrow icon here) on it". Thats why I got tired of that stuff after about a year.
I'm not saying that's what the artist here did, just a commentary on teh "let's make it cool real quick and easy" mentality that seems to pervade some artists work. Not directed at this piece/this artist directly or even at all...just using it as a starting point.
