late to this party, but if a poster is visually magnetic, it doesn't matter where the type is placed or how small it is. The design will do its job. We're here to create objects of curiosity, and ultimately lure the right people to the right shows. In that regard, I think this rocks.
NXTLVL. If I noticed this in a shop window I would totally walk right up to it and examine it until I understood its purpose. But, I'm uncommonly inquisitive.
nadine is probably the only classically-trained swiss typographer on this site. sonnenzimmer adds another major feather to their cap. and perkins, you can get away with whatever you want, as long as fisher keeps loving the decemberists.
Oops, I should have put this in my last comment: apologies for coming off like a crank before, down there aways. That might have been a little out-of-line. So nothing personal to the design firm. These guys are consummate pros, obviously.
Sonnenzimmer: Well, great art is always that art that upsets other artists, mostly. So who knows? I am warming to it but I do not like how small it looks here at all. Your other stuff is stellar by the way! No matter...merely opinions anyhow. Everyone else seems to love it so maybe I am just missing something. Wouldn't be the first time.
Some type information. Font, Lutz Headline _ a specific developed font for posters designed from Mr. Cornell Windlin. We actually consider type as a key component in all of our work. It's not an afterthought. Going small doesn't exclude thinking big. That's all my 2 cents for today. Cheerios
I'm just going to repeat what other have said, but this thing is pretty awesome. I'm constantly amazed by the Sonnenzimmer stuff. From the point of view of it being astoundingly beautiful, and not something i could ever do. Much goodness!
Hey Everybody! Thanks for the comments. LHR, The band specifically wanted this small format so we did what we could.... and its a "souvenir" poster for the band to sell on tour... advertising didn't really come in to play. Personally, I like a poster that has to be investigated a bit, but thats just me.
it's good! me likes. super duper sol lewitt. and, um. wouldn't it be so awesome to see this hanging around town and to have to stop and read all of it carefully? keep it up!
All right, I saw this on the artist's web site. And you can *sorta* read it. Unless this is 12 feet tall, then I would proclaim it the death of typography, because it is subjugated to the most insignificant status possible in the design. I mean, this is like microfiche!

Okay, since when did illegible become so freaking cool? What is this advertising? When is it happening? Where do I go to see it? The usual questions...all unanswered and unserviced by the graphic. You only have a few seconds to get attention with a still image, especially these days.
Other than, that, whoa! It surely kills, hipster!
