Paul Gardner. Pray we never meet. My world view and yours would clash in such a manner that I'd I would have to actively express mine to show you the difference and erase any doubt about who you are and who I am.
@michael: har har har. Its actually on the poster TWICE!
@OmSatori: Thanks! When we started doing research on it yours was one o 2 or 3 that we absolutely loved, seriously super clever, love it!
Oh man, if you guys are bickering over this I cant wait to see what you say about the murder by death poster we just finished. It doesn't reference the band name OR the way they sound! How do we do it!?
If you go back and look, I never said ANYTHING about YOU>YOURSELF>PERSONALLY not knowing.. I simply stated that anyone that knows the band (i.e. the people that most likely will be going to this show) will get it. If you took offense to that, I apologize... but you really didn't have to get that defensive about it, really.
michael understands me. i'm allowed to like a band and not like their merch. and i'm a pretty big fan of their music. what i don't like is absolute statements about whether or not i know anything about a band, that shit is lame. i ain't trying to win a fanclub contest here. there's plenty of songs that tell great stories, i'd rather see posters/ art for them that deal with that rather than plays off their name.
I THINK what Sasha is saying is that the poster fits the band NAME great...but does not fit the BAND all that well. And if that's the case...I agree.
But yes, it's a nice looking poster.
The movie that they are named after is alot like Clue (the movie), a send up of who dun it movies. Its got Truman Capote in it too. I think i gave it 2 netflix stars.
A band called Murder by Death, with a poster with all the murder weapons from a popular game. I don't see a disconnect there. I think it's a great idea.
Still sounds like a weak argument. I really like this piece. I really like their artwork on a lot of their merch items as well. I have t-shirts, hoodies, records, etc... all hae top notch illustrations. I am kind of taken aback at your claim of 'sub-par art'.
because i don't know about their t-shirts from 2003, obviously i dont know anything about the band. i might love their music, but i can't help it that i think their choices for art stuff over the years has been sub-par. so, even if i did know about some t-shirt from 6 years ago, i'd still think it was a weird idea.
"Nice execution. it'd be much nicer if it were more related to the band, though. i don't think there's any songs about Clue."
They had a t-shirt come out way back in 2003 that had all of these items on it. Any one who knows anything about the band will get this reference.
